Serbs for Serbs in Republic of Srpska |

On April 26, representatives of charity organization Serbs from Serbs visited families Petkovic and Ilic from Republic of Srpska. We have prepared Eastern gifts for the youngest family members wihch contained sweets, cookies, and chocolads. Also, we have prepared a book for each child according to their ages, of course. The books deal with Serbian history, culture, tradition, poetry and so on. Each family also received 100 euros and Christian Orthodox icon Holy Trojerucica as small gifts from our organization. While visiting family Ilic on the Manjaca mountain, our representatives have seen terrible situation the familiy lives in. The house doesn't have any bathroom, windows, or heat. Hopefully, with a help from our donors, our organization will be able to assist this family with restoring at least some of the parts of the house by the next winter.

Help for family Djuricic arrives |

Another family from our rubric 'Serbian heroines' experienced what the word nobility means. Life started to become better for the seven-member family of Valentina Zagrađa and her unwed husband Sreten Đuričić with their five children Ivana (7), Ognjen (6), Teodora (4), Ivan (2) and just born Teodor. Packages with food, clothes and toys began to arrive at the adress of their 14 square meters house. Even a solution was found for the family to move into a little abandoned apartment (two rooms and a kitchen) which owner doesn't live there anymore. Afterwards, Valentina Zagrađa received a call from the chief of the police direction in Sremska Mitrovica, Zoran Smajic, who provided her with proper documents. Heretofore she lived as an internally displaced person without a valid ID card and registered place of residence since she was dispelled with her mother from Kosovo in 1999. Now, she will be able to apply for all these necessary documents and finally marry with her husband Sreten, with whom, just to remember, she has five kids. People come from Belgrade, Sremska Mitrovica and other places in Serbia. They bring presents and play with the children. ''I see in their faces that they are happy to be able to help us'' says Valentina. She also feels reassured because she will finally manage to apply for child allowance these days. Her husband Sreten says that he feels ashamed because he has to accept foreign aid and adds that he would rather prefer to help other people, but unfortunately this is impossible with his income. The telephone rings very often. People from Belgrade congratulate them for their endurance and notify that they will come and help with as much as they can avoid from their salaries and pensions. Most of them wish to stay anonymous, even if they donate hundrets of euro. Milan Jovešković, from Sremska Mitrovica, has organized with his friends gathering help in the form of food and clothes. So he took a full car of goods in front of Valentina's and Sreten's house. - ''Those children need help. Even our minimum is enough for them.'' says Mr. Jovešković and promises that he will provide more packages of help within the next days. Meanwhile a group of buisnessmen from Sremska Mitrovica announced they would start an action with the goal to build up a house for the seven-member family from the village of Vrdnik. Similar announcements arrive from Belgrade too.

Easter action off to Montenegro |
We would like to inform all of our donators, members and friends of our organizations that we have started our Easter action. Each of the families, Gogic and Milic have received 100 euros. As we have heard from our representative Ivan Stijovic ( Bar, Montenegro ), family Gogic is starving since the beginning of the month due to the fact that father has lost the job and the only thing that is holding them is the cow which they have bought from our donations. Father is very sick and he has been visiting hospitals for the past two months not being able to go to work.
Due to the border issues, we were not able to transfer food so we will be sending books and orthodox icons which have been reserver as Easter presents and we will be buying food and sweets in Montenegro. Also, our representatives from Republic of Srpska and Belgrade had short meeting and they have decided about all the details for visit to our families in the Republic of Srpska next week. Proof of money being sent to the families Milic and Gogic can be seen if you click on each family's last name. |
