7th Visit to Kosovo & Metohija - Easter 2010

(April 16,2010) - For the 7th time in a raw, at the grand Humanitarian action for the Serbian nation in Kosovo, the 5-member delegation of our Charity organization for the Easter 2010 visited the poor villages of Zach and Novake (in Metohija) delivering the donation of about 2,600 EURO. Leaded by the Episcope Atanasije, together with the NGO "Majka devet Jugovica" also supported by the Swiss Charity "Nemanjici Ticino", the Austrian Organization SPOJI, Friends from LA and Australia, our organization has helped the Serb families who decided to get back to their home lands in Metohija. Our donation, this time considered the 20 pigs (one for each family) that might help them in the moment for the very first engagement at the household, few dining room beds, cloths, refrigerator and washing machine as well as the other goods. The gratitude our volunteers have got, worm smiles and some tears in their eyes gave us the power to go ahead in our new actions. So, we promise that we'll be back very soon - on the Serbian holly land, just for the Vidovdan (at the end of June 2010), with the bigger donation, dedicated especially for the kids. Our motto will stay unchanged, there is no doubt: "Kids are our future"

Interview - Serbs for Serbs Charity

(March, 24, 2009) - Igor Rasula, President of the Charity Organization 'Serbs for Serbs' gave an interview for the undergraduate institution in the USA. Few questions he has been answered there, we used to transfer for our official web site.

Can you explain the situation and motivations that led you to create this charity organization? Who was initially involved? Did you face any challenges in the beginning? Do young people play a significant role in your charity?

The idea for establishing charity organization Serbs for Serbs arose spontaneously, during online chat between football fans on the famous Serbian web portal Serbiancafe.com in the 2005. While discussing the ideas on how to help and contribute to the Serbian country and their people, somebody suggested raising money online via private Pay Pal account only within their group in order to help a poor family from Kragujevac, Serbia with five children by sending some donation. After raising 300 euro, they went and visited the family, took many photos and posted back to the whole group on the web. Soon after, the web site www.srbizasrbe.org was created, and organization began operating strictly online. Their idea was to help families with many children while they were growing up, so the expectations for a better Serbian society in the future would actually be plausible. The whole group was consisted out of mostly young people, ages 20-35....

Serbs for Serbs recovering flames

On February 22, 2009, four representatives of our humanitarian organization Serbs for Serbs visited family Major who was affected by the fire that has happened in their house and burnt their house leaving them without their home. Petko Koprivica, journalist from " Politika " and person who told us this sad story about family Major, came with our representatives to the house of Ana Major's sister. Currently, house has 14 members with only 7,000 dinars in earnings from social help and on average, family has to buy 10 breads a day. Our organization has collected 10 bags of clothes, shoes, sheets for bed, lots of toys for the youngest ones and candies. In the agreement with mother Ana Major, orgnization has donated 35,000 dinars to the Fond made for the reconstruction of the house.

In conversation with Ana, we also learned that their municipalities will soon help in temporary accommodation while the house is under construction. Also, many major newspapers wrote about this family thanks to our humanitarian action.
